The April Open Gaming Meet will be held on April 19, in the air-con side of the rooftop poolside cabanas of Pearl Drive, Ortigas Center, from 3pm to Midnight.

The OGM is an informal gathering of tabletop games enthusiasts from various groups to try out new games and/or play favourites games, be it Boardgames, Miniature War Games, RPGs, Card Games, or Board Wargames, with friends - new or old.

Once you’re at Residencia 8888, please inform the Front Desk that you’re a guest of Mark Humphries, and are going to the event at the rooftop cabana.

There is the usual entrance fee of 50 pesos to help defray the cost of renting the cabana.

Noted games for the Apr. OGM:

- Rounds 3 (Melbourne) & 4 (Suzuka) of the FORMULA V season (powered by Formula De - http://www.http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/12/12040.phtml). 10 slots are available, of which 2 are already taken. You can reserve your slot (and to do a crash course on how to play the game) by talking to me during the OGM before the preparation of the start of the races.

- GRIMM role-playing session (http://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/10/10318.phtml) by Rolf. If you’re interested in participating, pls. PM Howl via www.tabletopwars.com (you need to be a member first - but it’s free anyway).

- BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Memoriam role-playing session (http://www.scifi.com/sfw/games/sfw16936.html) by Tobie. Interested participants can contact him via yahoo at tobito_abad (you know the rest).

Blog EntryTerminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles!Mar 22, '08 7:27 AM
for everyone
I just watched the first episode on C/S! I love it!

First off, SUMMER GLAU. AS. A. TERMINATOR. OH YEAH.

Most adorable killing machine ever. She's got great fighting scenes here, too, and along with Lena Headey as the titular Sarah Connor, mother of the post-robot apocalypse messiah, it's fun to see strong capable women kicking ass in an action series. This is far more fun than Bionic Woman, that's for sure.

Lena Headey, btw, played Queen Gorgo on 300. She's got the attitude of Sarah Connor, but she looks... too thin. I know it's unfair to compare her to Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor, but I want to see her buffed up. It's ok for Summer Glau to look that way and still kick ass, since she is a deceptively harmless looking killer robot, but Sarah Connor is supposed to be a paranoid survivalist who's been spending her spare time preparing for a robot apocalypse. She should be ripped... But then again Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 had lots of spare time to work out, what with her being in a mental institution and all.

Thomas Dekker as John Connor is ok - he's far lonelier than the T2 John, but then this kid's gone through 5 years of moving around and uprooting than that one. And lost a lot more friends and family too. Thankfully he manages to stay out of the emo range - I'd be annoyed at him if I was - but if he keeps up the drama without growing a pair, I may have to start wishing bad things to happen to him.

I don't know whether to be annoyed or amused that the more the Connors try to get out of the system and cover their tracks, the more they pop up. But then, it is realistic - everyone nowadays has a camphone.

Overall, far more enjoyable than Terminator 3 was. I hope they don't mess up the time-travel, though.

EventWholly Trek Day!Mar 18, '08 9:09 AM
for everyone
Start:     Mar 20, '08 10:00a
End:     Mar 21, '08 12:00a
Location:     Fandom Café (UG-09 Regalia Park Towers, 150 P. Tuazon St., Cubao, Quezon)
1. What is Wholly Trek Day?
Wholly Trek Day is a gathering of VA members and newbies every Maundy
Thursday (March 20 this year). On this day, we indulge ourselves with
all the episodes we can watch, read all we want (VA's physical library
is composed of approximately 800 encyclopedias, novels, magazines,
comic books, etc.), play all we want (PS2, PC games), talk all we
want, sleep all we want (if you can amidst all the activity), and what
else we can think of doing related to Trek. Activities start at 10am
and will officially end at 12mn. Unofficially, it will end when there
is no food and drinks left.

2. Where will it be held?
This year, Wholly Trek Day will be held in Fandom Café. Fandom Café's
address is UG-09 Regalia Park Towers, 150 P. Tuazon St., Cubao, Quezon
City. A map and commuting directions can be found here:
http://www.newworld s.ph/?page_ id=63

3. I'm not an official VA member, can I go?
Of course, you can. Provided all of VA's rules and regulations are
followed, we would like to share the club's resources with all Trek
fans in the country.

4. What do I need to bring?
Donations of food and other items would be greatly appreciated. If
the donated consumables will not be enough, we will be ordering from
fast food chains in the immediate area, so some cash will come in
handy.

I went to Bryan's Fud Trip function at CHE, and Mara's Birthday Bowling at Farmer's Plaza afterwards. These are the pictures. And, gosh, I suck at taking action shots. Also, I am epic fail for forgetting to take pictures of the food before we proceeded to devour it.
